Hoyoverse has announced the Genshin Impact 3.0 release date. You'll soon be exploring a brand new region of Teyvat when the next major update for the open-world gacha RPG drops next week, bringing with it new regions, new quests, and more.
When is the Genshin Impact 3.0 release date?
You won't have much longer to wait if you're hyped for this update, because the Genshin Impact 3.0 release date is August 24th, as was announced during Saturday's Genshin Impact Livestream. The update is bringing lots of new things with it, but perhaps the most major is the nation of Sumeru, which you'll be able to freely explore. It consists of two major regions, a rainforest, and a desert, and revolves around the Akademiya, the governing body of the region which is controlling the flow of knowledge in and out of Sumeru. You can check out the Genshin Impact 3.0 trailer right here if you want a little more info about what's to come.
What are the Genshin Impact 3.0 banners?
Along with the new region, Genshin Impact 3.0 is adding new Archon Quests and World Quests. You'll be going up against the Fatui Harbingers in this update, too, and to help you do that, there are four new playable Dendro characters. Technically, the first isn't "new", per se, as it's a Dendro version of the main character. The second new character is a five-star archer by the name of Tighnari, and the third is Tighnari's pupil Collei, who has made appearances in the official Genshin Impact manga. Hoyoverse says that "for a limited time", completing the Graven Innocence seasonal event will net you Collei for free, so be sure to do that. Finally, there's Dori, four-star Electro support wielding a claymore. This update's banners include Event Wishes for Collei, Tighnari, and Zhongli, as well as reruns for Ganyu and Sangonomiya Kokomi, which will be accompanied by Dori.
This will mark the first time the Dendro element has been playable in Genshin Impact, so naturally, you'll also discover a whole bunch of new elemental chain reactions and combos to use in this update. As well as all these extras, you'll also find plenty of smaller optimizations and fixes arriving in Genshin Impact 3.0, including colored shadows to make the world of Teyvat pop all the more. According to Hoyoverse, you're also getting three new tools to make wood farming, cooking, and fishing a little easier, so if you're a crafting fanatic, this sounds like the update for you.
What is Genshin Impact?
Genshin Impact is an open-world gacha RPG developed by Chinese studio Hoyoverse (previously known as Mihoyo). It takes place in the world of Teyvat and follows the Traveler, a young warrior transported into an unfamiliar place and hoping to find their lost sibling. Gameplay-wise, Genshin takes influence from games like Breath of the Wild; it has a free climbing system that allows you to traverse its world at your leisure, and it also adds elemental combat into the mix, necessitating creativity and a varied approach to party-building. The game's gacha elements come from obtaining characters, which have different star ratings, weapons, and elemental affinities. Thus, Genshin Impact becomes all about building an unstoppable party, adventuring through the world, and discovering the story, which unfolds more and more with each update.
You'll be able to download Genshin Impact 3.0 when it launches on August 24th. Following on from July's 2.8 updates, Hoyoverse says the next major Genshin patch is due on September 28th, with the developer moving to a five-week schedule. As such, you can then expect 3.2 in early November and 3.3 in early December. Don't forget to check out our Genshin Impact guides if you're just getting started in the world of Teyvat, as it can be a daunting and intimidating place for new players.
