Each character in Genshin Impact wields a Vision - a token of ambition - that is bestowed upon them when they reach a varying level of aspiration. These Visions grant access to Elemental abilities. Elements in Genshin Impact do different things depending on how they're interacting with each other.

Elements, Elemental Resonances, and Elemental Debuffs

When using different Elements, enemies and allies can be inflicted with varying debuffs. Having multiple allies with the same Vision on your team will grant an Elemental Resonance buff.

Element - PyroPyro

  • Resonance: Fervent Flames - Affected by Cryo for 40% less time. Increases ATK by 25%.
  • Debuff: Continuously inflicts damage over time.

Element: Hydro Hydro

  • Resonance - Soothing Waters: Affected by Pyro for 40% less time. Increases incoming healing by 30%.
  • Debuff: Increases skill CD durations.


Element: AnemoAnemo


  • Resonance - Impetuous Winds: Decreases Stamina Consumption by 15%. Increases Movement SPD by 10%. Shortens Skill CD by 5%.
  • Debuff: N/A

Element: Geo Geo

  • Resonance- Enduring Rock: Increases shield strength by 15%. Additionally, characters protected by a shield will have the following special characteristics: DMG dealt increased by 15%, dealing DMG to enemies will decrease their Geo RES by 20% for 15s.
  • Debuff: N/A

Element: Electro Electro

  • Resonance - High Voltage: Affected by Hydro for 40% less time. Superconduct, Overloaded, and Electro-Charged have a 100% chance to generate an Electro Elemental Particle (CD: 5s).
  • Debuff: Continuously drains Energy Recharge.

Element: Cryo Cryo

  • Resonance - Shattering Ice: Affected by Electro for 40% less time. Increases CRIT Rate against enemies that are Frozen or affected by Cryo by 15%.
  • Debuff: Increases stamina consumption.

Element: Dendro Dendro

  • Resonance: Unknown
  • Debuff: Unknown

Elemental Reactions

In battle, Elements from allies and enemies will interact, creating different effects that can hurt your character and enemies. Using these Elemental Reactions strategically is key to success against high-level foes.


Elemental Reaction - Burning

  • Elements: PyroDendro
  • Effect:Deals Pyro DMG over time.

Elemental Reaction: Crystalize

  • Elements: Geo+Pyro+Hydro+Electro+Cryo
  • Effect: Creates a crystal that will provide a shield when picked up.

Elemental Reaction: Electro Charged

  • Elements: Electro+ Pyro
  • Effect: Deals Electro DMG over time.

Elemental Reaction: Frozen

  • Elements: Cryo+Hydro
  • Effect: Freezes the target.

Elemental Reaction: Melt

  • Elements: Pyro+Cryo
  • Effect: Deals 2x DMG if Cryo activates Pyro. Deals 1.5x DMG if Pyro activates Cyro.

Elemental Reaction: Superconduct

  • Elements: Cryo+ Electro
  • Effect: Deals AoE Pyro DMG.

Elemental Reaction: Overloaded

  • Elements: Pyro+ Electro
  • Effect: Deals AoE Cryo DMG and reduces the target's Physical RES by 50%.

Elemental Reaction: Vaporize

  • Elements: Hydro+ Pyro
  • Effect: Deals 2x DMG if Pyro activates Hydro. Deals 1.5x DMG if Hydro activates Pyro.

Elemental Reaction: Swirl

  • Elements: Anemo+Pyro+Hydro+Electro+Cryo
  • Effect: Deals extra elemental damage and spreads the effect.
