The Genshin Impact 3.4 release date has been revealed, so we now know when we can look forward to Teyvat's New Year celebrations. The update is landing on January 18th, bringing with it the Lantern Rite ceremony, as well as a whole new area to explore and lots more.
Just a couple of days ago, the Genshin Impact team revealed that a livestream would be held today, and true to their word, the presentation aired earlier, revealing the release date and giving us a first look at some of update 3.4's content. Some of it, like the Lantern Rite event, was already leaked last month, but there's much more to look forward to in Genshin Impact 3.4.
So, what's new in this update? First up, the aforementioned Lantern Rite will be shepherding in the New Year in Teyvat, and you can look forward to a music festival and a "traditional Liyue performance" to celebrate the occasion. Given Genshin Impact's silky-smooth anime aesthetic, those events are sure to offer a visual spectacle.
As well as this event, you can also look forward to a brand new area called the Desert of Hadramaveth. As you might expect, this area is beset by sandstorms, and there are plenty of adventures waiting for you there, including new World Quests. Two new characters are also being added: five-star swordsman Alhaitham and four-star polearm wielder Yaoyao. They both use the Dendro element.
A new limited-time mode is also being introduced for the Genius Invokation card game, which was introduced as part of last month's 3.3 update. You'll find some free rewards waiting for you in the game, too, including a new outfit for Lisa, a four-star Liyue character, and 13 Intertwined Fates. You can claim these bonuses "upon completion of certain events", according to Hoyoverse.
