How to unlock 'Garden of Endless Pillars' Domain in Genshin Impact - Desert Vivarium Puzzle

Garden of Endless Pillars is a new one-time completion Domain added with Genshin Impact’s 3.1 update, which brought with it the expansive new desert region in the west of Sumeru, the continuation of the Archon storyline, new characters and weapons to collect, and several new Domains to conquer.

Domains are a great way to test your strength and earn precious rewards in Genshin Impact, including Primogems required to make Wishes. However, many Domains demand you solve a puzzle in order to enter. Garden of Endless Pillars is no different in this regard, tasking players with solving a Pyro Elemental Monument puzzle before gaining access to the trial.

Garden of Endless Pillars can be found to the west of the new desert region of Sumeru near The Dune of Carouses. This area can easily be accessed from a Teleport Waypoint to the southwest or a Statue of the Seven to the east. You’ll know you’ve found the right location when you come across a small ruin populated with Flaming Flower Stamen and the new Redcrest Ascension material.

How to complete the puzzle to unlock the ‘Garden of Endless Pillars’ Domain

Garden of Endless Pillars requires players to solve a short and deceptively challenging Elemental Monument puzzle to gain access. Elemental Monument puzzles task players with activating a series of stone pillars using a specific element, in this case Pyro, by using Pyro element characters.

For the Garden of Endless Pillars Domain puzzle, there are five Elemental Monuments that need to be activated. However, these cannot be activated in any order. While there is no time limit, the Elemental Monuments must be activated in a specific order to solve the puzzle.

This is the tricky part if you don’t know the specific order and rule set at play in this puzzle. 

You may notice the Flaming Flower Stamen plants, protected by a strange blue barrier, near each of the Elemental Monuments. These are hints as to the correct order to activate the pillars in. Each Monument has a different number of Flaming Flower Stamen next to them, indicating their turn in the sequence. To make matters more confusing there is one Monument lacking a corresponding Flaming Flower Stamen, muddying the water over which Monument is the first in the sequence.

To solve the Garden of Endless Pillars puzzle, begin by lighting the Elemental Monument without any corresponding Flaming Flower Stamen, as this is effectively ‘0’ in the sequence. Next, light the Monument with a single flower, continuing to light the Monuments until the fifth and final Monument which has four corresponding Flaming Flower Stamen.

If you get the order incorrect, the puzzle will simply reset for you to try again. Although there are issues with this Domain failing to reset correctly. If this occurs, teleport to a nearby Statue of the Seven or Teleport Waypoint and make your way back to the Domain puzzle area. The puzzle should reset correctly, with no Monuments still activated from a previous attempt. There are no limits on attempts so don’t fret!

Once the puzzle is complete, a cutscene will trigger showcasing the Domain rising from the ground. Interact with the Domain afterwards to unlock the Garden of Endless Pillars Domain and Desert Vivarium challenge.

Desert Vivarium Challenge

The Desert Vivarium trial itself, accessed within the Domain, is on the easier end of the Domain difficulty scale, tasking players with light traversal and combat challenges.

To begin the trial, defeat the various Fungi surrounding a large blue flower at the centre of the arena. Once defeated, interact with the flower to spawn platforms for you to jump to using the Bouncy Mushroom nearby. Upon reaching the higher platform, you will see another flower offering a challenge to collect 14 Dendro Particles within 40 seconds. Activate the nearby Clusterleaves of Cultivation to spawn Four-Leaf Sigils that will help you collect the Dendro Particles in a very handy linear fashion.

What are the rewards for the ‘Garden of Endless Pillars - Desert Vivarium’ Domain?

The Garden of Endless Pillars Domain is a very worthwhile challenge for the time spent completing the short puzzle to enter. 

Firstly, upon completion of the puzzle, an Exquisite Chest will spawn at the base of the staircase leading to the entrance. This will grant the standard fare of basic rewards, including a small amount of Mora and Adventure EXP, the new Dendro Sigils to be turned in at the Tree of Dreams, and two Primogems.

Completing the Domain itself for the first time, however, offers much greater rewards:

• 500x Adventure XP
• 30,000x Mora
• 40x Primogem
• 4x Mystic Enhancement Ore
• 2x Hero’s Wit
• 1x Gambler’s Pocket Watch (Artifact)
• 3x Teachings of Praxis (Talent level-up material)
• 5x Dendro Sigil

It should be noted, however, that the rewards granted by the Garden of Endless Pillars Domain are only awarded upon first completion. While the Domain can be challenged again at any time, you will not receive any further rewards.
