Icarus is a survival game where you are plopped down onto a planet with nothing but your ship home and protective suit. To survive on Icarus, you will need to gather resources to ensure you are able to survive. In the guide below, we've got you covered on the basics of Icarus resources.
Basic Resources
To start off with, you are going to want to get familiar with the most basic of resources. These are:
- Wood
- Stone
- Fiber
There is only one type of wood in the game, so you won’t need to worry about harvesting from different trees. In Icarus, you aren’t likely to run out of resources early on, but in some biomes, like the arctic biome. In addition to these basic building blocks, you will also need items for survival.
- Food: Food can be obtained through foraging, fishing, and hunting.
- Water: Water can be obtained through finding lakes or consuming certain fruits like berries.
There are a few different types of food you can make and carry around with you. We highly encourage you to keep a supply of cooked meat or bread with you at all times. In addition, you should make a waterskin bag to ensure you always have proper hydration.
Hunting Materials
By hunting animals, you can get a variety of different resources like food or materials to build weapons. Here are the items you can get from hunting
- Fur
- Bones
- Meat
- Leather
Resources like fur are much rarer than resources like bones, so having an item like a skinning table can ensure you stay stocked up on needed resources
Mining Resources
In addition to stone, you can mine quite a few other types of rocks. The most important out of these being Oxite Ore, which is used to refill your suit’s oxygen. Here are the other materials that can be mined in Icarus:
- Coal
- Sulfur
- Silica
- Oxite
This can all be harvested using the stone pickaxe and will naturally be found while walking around Icarus. The rocks that the resources are harvested from are all different colors, so finding them should be easy.
Cave Resources
Some of the harder-to-find materials in the game are only available if you are willing to venture into caves. This can be a bit dangerous though, as enemies like cave worms are waiting to turn your character into a snack. Here are all the materials that can be found in caves on Icarus:
Resource Name | Pickaxe Required |
---|---|
Gold | Stone Pickaxe |
Iron | Stone Pickaxe |
Copper | Stone Pickaxe |
Sulfur | Stone Pickaxe |
Coal | Stone Pickaxe |
Titanium | Steel Pickaxe |
Platinium | Steel Pickaxe |
Aluminum | Steel Pickaxe |
Once you collect ore, you can use it in select items or process it into ingots, which can then be used in advanced recipes. In addition, to these, there is steel which must be created by using the steel crafting recipe. This recipe requires you to mix:
- Iron with coal to create steel bloom.
Once you have created the mixture, simply place it on the concrete furnace to make steel ingots.
