Sons of the Forest 1.0 is finally upon us, and as you'd expect for this major milestone, it comes with some very extensive patch notes indeed.
The survival horror game has been in Early Access since last year, and since then, it's received a number of updates, although this latest one stakes a strong claim to being the biggest yet.
The 1.0 release is full of new gameplay features, tweaks, and refinements, and as you might expect from a game that's so relentlessly bleak, some of them are pretty amusing in a dark sort of way.
One change, for instance, allows players to trade bones with one another, while another has "improved" the creepy Virginia ragdoll. Let the nightmares commence!
Perhaps the most darkly amusing change in Sons of the Forest's 1.0 patch notes, however, reads thus: "babies are now single hit kill from any weapon in normal mode". Logical, but disturbing nonetheless.
Some of the changes are more amusing in a quirky sense, including the addition of "10 more sea turtle zones", as well as an updated eggnog recipe that now uses four eggs and increased volume for bats.

Sons of the Forest is the followup to Endnight's 2018 survival horror adventure The Forest. It features similar gameplay to its predecessor, although new features have been added, including a larger map to explore and friendly NPCs to meet.
Endnight originally planned to release Sons of the Forest all the way back in 2021, but it was subsequently delayed more than once until its launch was changed to Early Access rather than a full release.
You can grab Sons of the Forest right now on PC via Steam. The game's world can be pretty bleak and horrifying, so be sure to check out our guides to help you get your bearings.
