Action Role-Playing Games (aka action RPG or ARPG), are games that have gameplay similar to the action or hack and slash genre, but include role playing elements such as leveling or statistical upgrades.
Most Action RPGs employ a real-time combat approach with the game being augmented with quests, missions, or additional tasks that the player can complete to earn better gear or increase their stats - a staple of the RPG genre.
