Ys Origin is coming to North America again.

The RPG will be getting a Western release for both the Playstation 4 and the Playstation Vita on February 21st, 2017.

Ys Origin will also have a bunch of new features attached to it, namely optimization done on the game for consoles to provide HD visuals and new in-game effects. One of the biggest additions, however is new language tracks. The game will be in Japanese and English, but for the first time ever also feature Spanish, French, Italian and German language tracks.

The game will have you choose between two characters; Yunica the axe-wielding warrior and Hugo the sorcerer. The goal of the game is to save all of mankind from a demonic horde by traversing a structure known as Devil's Tower, which the demons are constructing. The reason for this quest is to find the twin goddesses- who saved all of mankind from the demonic invasion by transporting them to the sky.

Ys Origin was originally released back in 2006 in Japan for the PC. This will be the second re-release of the game for Western audiences- in 2012 XSEED games released a Steam version of the game, with an English voice-over track and widescreen format.

The Ys Series is one of the longest running RPG franchises in the world, first debuting back in June of 1987. The series has been developed by Japanese company Nihon Falcom since the beginning, and has had several Western releases over the years for both consoles and personal computers, starting with Ys: The Vanished Omens for the Sega Master System in 1988.

Ys Origin will be the first Ys game released in a while in the West- Ys: Memories of Celceta was the last major release state-side back in 2013 for North America, and 2014 in Europe. The latest installment of the series, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, was released for the Playstation Vita only in Japan earlier this year.
