Right before the PlayStation E3 conference began, Sony showed off a brand new trailer for the upcoming RPG Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom by director Akihiro Hino.

The trailer, in stunning cel-shaded graphics inspired by the style of famous animator Hayao Miyazaki , introduces us to a diverse cast of characters, from party members to antagonists. The game stars Evan, the young prince who was ousted from his throne because he was perceived to be "too nice" as a leader. With the help of a middle-aged man from the real world named Roland, Evan will learn what it means to be a true leader as he quests to take back his kingdom.

Aiding Evan is more than just Roland, but a cast of characters that serve as his primary party members. Evan will also get help from the Higgledies, spirits who provide elemental abilities to Evan and the party that can be used in combat against foes and monsters. Higgledies are also used for over-world exploration, as their elemental powers can help explore and clear dungeons you find in the game.

Several other changes were made to the core gameplay experience of Ni No Kuni 2, including the ability to switch between party members which was a highly requested feature for the first game. We also have other gameplay bits shown in the trailer, including what appears to be massive battles thrown into the mix.

The release date of Ni No Kuni 2 was also revealed hours before the trailer was shown, thanks to a post on NeoGaf.  Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is scheduled for a release on November 10th, 2017. The game will be released for both the PlayStation 4 and the PC.
