Our The Planet Crafter Resources guide will tell you how you can get your hands on some of the most important basic resources such as Honey, Nitrogen Cartridge, Quasar Quartz, and more!

You'll have to build a lot of stuff while you're working on terraforming the planet in The Planet Crafter, and all of those buildings and machines are going to need resources. This guide will tell you where to find the basic resources you need to expand your operations!

How to Get The Planet Crafter Resources and Crafting Materials

Here's how to get some of the most common basic resources that you'll need in The Planet Crafter.

If you're looking for more complex resources such as Uranium or Super Alloy, you can find those in our list of other guides at the bottom of this page!

How to Get Access Card

A small Storage Crate containing an Access Card in a Portal wreck in The Planet Crafter

You can get an Access Card by finding it in small chests in Portal mini-biomes. Naturally, you'll need to build a Portal Generator to get to these areas.

Access Cards are needed to open locked doors in the wrecks that you'll find in Portal mini-biomes. It's always worth it to hunt them down, though — the loot that you find inside is almost always worth it.

How to Get Algae

An Algae Generator on the lake in The Planet Crafter

The only way to reliably get Algae is by building an Algae Generator. This will physically grow the Algae underneath the Algae Generator; it then must be collected by hand or with Drones.

How to Get Blazar Quartz

A Blazar Quartz on a table in a building in The Planet Crafter

You can find Blazar Quartz as loot in Portal mini-biomes and in other chests. You have a higher chance of finding it by exploring Portal mini-biomes of a higher Rarity.

Blazar Quartz is one of the materials needed for opening up Portal mini-biomes of a higher Rarity.

How to Get Cobalt

A piece of Cobalt on the ground in The Planet Crafter

Cobalt is a blue, glass-like substance that can be commonly found throughout much of the map. You can also mine it pretty much anywhere by using an Ore Extractor.

How to Get Common Larva / Uncommon Larva / Rare Larva

From left to right: Common Larva, Uncommon Larva, Rare Larva.

You can find Common Larva, Uncommon Larva, and Rare Larva on the ground after you've reached the Insects Terraformation Stage. Simply stand still for a moment and they will begin to spawn around you.

Based on my experience, you have a higher chance of finding Uncommon Larva and Rare Larva as you move away from the starting area at the center of the map. It may be worth it to build a base in a distant biome to regularly collect these Larva.

How to Get Honey

A T2 Beehive next to a cliff in The Planet Crafter

The best way to get Honey is by building a T2 Beehive; this will produce Bee Larva and Insects for free. You can then use the Bee Larva you collect to make more T2 Beehives and expand your production.

You can use Drones to automatically collect Bee Larva and deposit it into a Shredder Machine that is set to automatically destroy its contents once it's full. Then, the Beehives will only produce Honey (as long as you have enough Drones to keep clearing everything out). Of course, you can also use Drones to move the Honey to a Storage Locker.

How to Get Ice

A piece of Ice on sandy ground in The Planet Crafter

You can find Ice all over the ground at the start of the game; it is essential for making some early-game machines and, more importantly, the Water Bottle.

As terraforming progresses, the planet will warm up and natural Ice will cease to spawn. You likely won't need it any longer at that point since you'll have other sources of Water Bottles. You can, however, put a Water Bottle into the Recycling Machine if you'd like to get Ice after the planet has warmed up.

How to Get Iron

A piece of Iron on cracked green ground in The Planet Crafter

Iron is an extremely common resource that is present in the majority of the map. Look for the sparkling black portion of the rock and you'll easily spot it from a distance. You can also mine an infinite supply using an Ore Extractor.

How to Get Magnesium

A piece of Magnesium on cracked green ground in The Planet Crafter

Magnesium is one of the basic, common resources that can be found throughout the majority of the world. It, too, can be mined reliably with an Ore Extractor once you're able to build those.

How to Get Magnetar Quartz

A piece of Magnetar Quartz on a table inside of a building in The Planet Crafter

Magnetar Quartz can be found in Portal mini-biomes and in chests. It's also used to open some of the higher Rarity Portals.

How to Get Methane Cartridge

A T1 Gas Extractor in front of a shipwreck in The Planet Crafter

You can get Methane Cartridges by building a T1 Gas Extractor (which also produces Oxygen Capsules). Upgrading to a T2 Gas Extractor will allow you to specifically collect Methane and only Methane.

How to Get Nitrogen Cartridge

A T2 Gas Extractor with a desert in the background in The Planet Crafter

You can only get a Nitrogen Cartridge by building a T2 Gas Extractor; the T1 Gas Extractor is incapable of collecting this particular resource. The T2 Gas Extractor can be set to only collect Nitrogen Cartridges if you wish.

How to Get Oxygen Capsule

A T1 Gas Extractor with a cliff behind it in The Planet Crafter

You can get Oxygen Capsules by placing two Cobalt in the Craft Station. If you wish, you can automate its collection with the T1 Gas Extractor or the T2 Gas Extractor.

How to Get Phytoplankton A / Phytoplankton B / Phytoplankton C

A Water Life Collector on the lake in The Planet Crafter

You can get Phytoplankton A, Phytoplankton B, and Phytoplankton C by placing a Water Life Collector on a lake or pond. Naturally, this means that you'll need to have reached the Terraformation Stage where liquid water is ubiquitous on the planet.

How to Get Quasar Quartz

A Quasar Quartz on a desk in The Planet Crafter

You can get Quasar Quartz in Portal mini-biomes and in other chests. You'll need it to open up some of the more advanced Rarity mini-biomes.

How to Get Silicon

A piece of Silicon on cracked green ground on The Planet Crafter

Silicon is one of the basic resources that can be found all over the ground at the start of the game; it's available in abundance in most areas. You can also mine it endlessly with an Ore Extractor.

How to Get Silk

A Silk Generator placed next to a wall in The Planet Crafter

You can get Silk by building a Silk Generator, and that requires Silkworms. Silkworms can be created in the incubator by using an Uncommon Larva, a Bacteria Sample, and T1 Fertilizer.

Once you've built a Silk Generator, you'll essentially have an infinite supply of Silk (and therefore, an infinite supply of Fabric).

How to Get Solar Quartz

A piece of Solar Quartz sitting on the roof of a large building in The Planet Crafter

You can only get Solar Quartz by finding its specific Blueprint Chip as loot in one of the Portal mini-biomes. Once you do, you'll need Nitrogen Cartridge, Sulfur, and Obsidian to Craft it.

How to Get Titanium

A piece of Titanium on cracked green ground in The Planet Crafter

Titanium is one of the basic resources that can be found in abundance throughout most of the map. You can mine an infinite supply by using an Ore Extractor.

How to Get Tree Bark

The interior of a T2 Biodome in The Planet Crafter

The only way to get Tree Bark reliably is by building a T2 Biodome and putting a Tree Seed in it; this will gradually fill up the two storage slots in the T2 Biodome's control panel.

You'll have to regularly collect the Tree Bark or build a lot of T2 Biodomes if you need this resource in large quantities since the T2 Biodome's internal storage is so small. This is one of the resources that is best collected by Drones as a result.

How to Get Water Bottle

A Lake Water Collector and an Atmospheric Water Collector in The Planet Crafter

There are four ways to get a Water Bottle in The Planet Crafter:

  1. Crafting Water Bottles from Ice at the Craft Station
  2. Finding Water Bottles in chests or wrecks
  3. Automatically collecting Water Bottles with an Atmospheric Water Collector
  4. Automatically collecting Water Bottles with a Lake Water Collector

Much like Food, Water is an essential resource for staying alive. You should always collect as many Water Bottles as you can and never throw them away until you've unlocked a reliable method of automated production.

You'll eventually unlock the ability to safely drink Water directly from lakes and ponds. However, not all biomes (or Portal mini-biomes) have liquid Water nearby; you should always have a few Water Bottles on hand for traveling!
