The Planet Crafter Rocket Engine and Jetpacks Guide - cover

In this The Planet Crafter Rocket Engine and Jetpack Guide, I'll tell you how to find and craft Rocket Engines and how to craft a Jetpack.

The Planet Crafter Rocket Engine and Jetpack, Explained

The Planet Crafter Rocket Engine and Jetpack are two distinct items.

What is a Rocket Engine in The Planet Crafter?

The Rocket Engine is a crafting material for certain Gear and items. Notably, you'll need it to craft the various rockets you can unlock, all of which provide some kind of in-game bonus such as a global boost to various aspects of Terraforming.

What is a Jetpack in The Planet Crafter?

The Jetpack is a piece of gear that you can equip that allows you to fly a short distance above the ground and move faster horizontally.

Make sure there's enough vertical clearance for your rockets at the Launch Platform or things might go a bit sideways -- literally. (Luckily, it bounced off of my roof and continued into space.)

How to Get a Rocket Engine in The Planet Crafter

There are two ways to get a Rocket Engine in The Planet Crafter.

  1. You can find Rocket Engines in some Storage Crates, Derelict Ships, Abandoned Bases, etc. Check out our Map and Locations Guide to find out where you can find one!
  2. You can craft a Rocket Engine at the Advanced Craft Station, but you'll need to unlock it first.

What a Rocket Engine is Used For in The Planet Crafter

Rocket Engines have two uses in The Planet Crafter:

  1. Building Rockets at the Launch Platform
  2. Building Jetpacks

How to Build Rockets in The Planet Crafter

You can build rockets at the Launch Platform in The Planet Crafter. Make sure you have no obstructions above the platform or things might go a bit wrong. My first platform was too close to the cliffs and the rocket bounced off of the cliff and flew around wildly before finally making it into space. (I don't think it can blow up, but let's not take any chances, shall we?)

In the early game, rockets are focused on adding functionality like Mapping or enhancing meteor storms to provide you with more resources. In the later game, you'll be able to massively improve your Terraforming efforts by increasing certain aspects (such as Oxygen generation) by a massive 1,000% with the launch of a single rocket. This bonus is permanent, too!

Jetpacks allow you to fly, but you can't go very high -- this is as high as I can go off of the ground with a Jetpack T3. They do, however, allow you to move along the ground much faster than running!

How to Get a Jetpack in The Planet Crafter

You can get a Jetpack by unlocking the Advanced Craft Station and crafting it. You'll need a ROcket Engine to build it (and its upgrades), though.

What a Jetpack is Used For in The Planet Crafter

Jetpacks are used to fly through the world at greater heights and faster speeds.

How Does The Planet Crafter Jetpack Work?

The Planet Crafter Jetpack lets you fly a few meters/feet above the ground at a higher speed than walking -- all you have to do is press the jump button twice and it will activate. The upside is that the Jetpack doesn't have any fuel. The downside, however, is that you can't fly very high.

The Early Access implementation of the Jetpack is a little janky. You fly in the direction you're looking, so try to avoid looking down or you'll slide along the ground instead of flying above it.

We're all done with The Planet Crafter Rocket Engine and Jetpack Guide, but we've covered plenty of other subjects -- take a look at our other guides below!
