Today Circana (formerly known as NPD before the merger with IRI) shared its sales statistics for the month of February 2023 via executive director and video game industry analyst Mat Piscatella

We learn that the PS5 was at the top of hardware sales in the United States for both revenue and units, driving hardware spent to $495 million, up 68% year-on-year. This this is the highest figure for February after 2009. The PS5 is also the best-selling console in the US in the first two months of 2023 adding up to January's stats.

On the software side, Hogwarts Legacy took the cake, which isn't really surprising considering the numbers announced by Warner Bros. It surpassed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Dead Space 2 which were respectively fist and second in January. Considering both February and January, Hogwarts Legacy is also at the top overall for 2023.

The Wizarding World open world game led sales on all platforms it launched on PlaySation, Xbox, and Steam.

Below you can take a look at the full top-20 for software in February.

Hogwarts Legacy e is already available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, while gamers on PS4 and Xbox One will have to wait until May 5 following a recent delay and a second. Those who want to play on Nintendo Switch will have to wait the longest, with the release date on the hybrid console set for July 25, 2023.

If you'd like to see more about the game, you can check out a rather spiffy cinematic trailer, and the launch trailer.
