Hogwarts Legacy Delayed On Last-Generation Consoles

While Hogwarts Legacy is still gracing last-gen platforms, you'll have a few extra months to wait to become a student at those particular schools of witchcraft and wizardry.

While Hogwarts Legacy is still coming out on February 10th, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, the game has just received a delay for last-gen platforms. Basically, the game has been delayed a couple months on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms, with a new release date of April 3rd. It'll also release five months after the current-gen consoles (July 25th) for the Nintendo Switch.

Waiting an extra five months after the current-gen release is a long time, but at least Switch owners will be getting a game that's received 5 months of patches (in theory, anyway). It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to see a scenario where Hogwarts Legacy isn't the most stable of games. After all, this is a game that's been pushed back twice now, so while the game should be polished, that doesn't mean it will be. Yes, I'm looking at you, Cyberpunk 2077.

Might get a bit chilly up there.

While the 2-month delay for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and July 25th release date news for the Nintendo Switch are definitely not the news that fans want to hear, you can console yourself with the game's rather snazzy Collector's Edition. It will include a steel case with the full game, a life-sized floating wand, and a big box to proudly display your game. #

It will also include everything that can be found in the Deluxe Edition, namely a Thestral mount, Dark Arts battle arena and associated cosmetics, and 72 hours early access, which means you'll be able to play the game 3 days early. It'll run you a cool $299.99, so make sure to save your Galleons if that's something you want to acquire.

Speaking of the release date, it'll be very interesting to see how this does once it's out in the wild. Will it be any good? Will it be terrible? It's all up in the air right now. Avalanche Software doesn't have the most impressive catalogue of games to inspire confidence, but that doesn't mean it's destined to be disappointing. Until then, we'll just have to wait and see.
