The developers of Hogwarts Legacy have announced that the release of the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be delayed until May 5, 2023, in order to "deliver the best possible experience on all platforms".

Hogwarts Legacy became an overnight success, as one would expect from a game about one of the most iconic franchises from any 90s kid's childhood. Selling over 12 million units since its debut, it's easy to see that many liked what they saw in trailers and even during Livestreams of the gameplay.

With that said, those with previous generation consoles haven't been able to experience the game yet as gamers on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S have. Sadly, today brought the news that old-gen users will need to wait even longer to embark on their journey to become the wizards or witches they always knew they could be.

The developers stated that they are absolutely overwhelmed by gratitude for the response the game has gotten from fans all around the world, but that they don't want the old-gen releases to fall through the cracks and not be as polished as the original release on new-gen consoles. While this may be a bit disappointing, it's worth noting that this does tend to happen quite a bit when preparing a game for a previous generation, as the specs and quality as well as the coding of the game itself differ monumentally from generation to generation. The work that goes into creating a solid game is already overwhelming enough, let alone attempting to release it on several different console versions at once.

Hogwarts Legacy gives fans plenty of content to look forward to, as not only do you get to study the world of magic in Hogwarts with all of your professors, you get to explore the world around you without very many boundaries. The quests are engaging and the storyline most definitely takes players on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, making for a very solid playthrough overall. Though old-gen console players may have to wait just a bit longer to experience the magic and the curses that come along with the game, one can only hope they will find the RPG worth the wait when all is said and done.
