Today Warner Bros. Games reached out with a press release to share some data about the predictable commercial success of the Wizarding World game Hogwarts Legacy.
According to the announcement, this is the biggest launch ever for the publisher, surpassing all that has come before.
Here are a few data points.
- More than 12 million units sold and $850 million in sales globally in its first two weeks across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
- 1.28 million peak concurrent viewers on Twitch at launch.
- 280 million hours played to date.
- 300% higher traffic to Wizarding World Digital over normal monthly unique visitor average for the first 10 days of February.
We also get a comment from Warner Bros. Games president David Haddad.

Hogwarts Legacy is set in the Wizarding World universe and based on the Harry Potter franchise, but the story happens a long time before the books that have made it famous. Specifically, you play as a transfer student in the 1890s, which is a rather unique perspective on the history of Hogwarts. Players will be able to join one of the iconic houses within the school as they investigate the mysteries of the ancient institution, making friends, and most likely enemies in the process.
The game is already available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 10, while gamers on PS4 and Xbox One will have to wait until April 4 following a recent delay. Those who want to play on Nintendo Switch will have to wait the longest, with the release date on the hybrid console set for July 25, 2023.
