Monster Hunter Rise sales have broken the 13 million barrier, developer and publisher Capcom has announced. In addition, the expansion Sunbreak has managed to pass 6 million sales, so although Rise isn't quite at the same level as the beast that is Monster Hunter World, it's done pretty well nonetheless.
This news comes via the official Monster Hunter Twitter account, with Capcom thanking its global community for their "amazing support and passion". In February, Monster Hunter Rise surpassed 12 million sales, which means it's picked up an additional million in the intervening few months. Similarly, Sunbreak was sitting at 5 million as of January this year, so it's added another million to its trophy cabinet as well. These are pretty darn good figures for a game that's been on general release since March 2021.

These sales figures come as Capcom winds down ongoing update support for Monster Hunter Rise, with the final update for the game landing back in early June. That update added a new monster to fight, as well as new DLC and cosmetics to collect, so if you haven't headed back to Kamura in a while, now might be a good time to do so.
As for the future of the franchise, a new mainline Monster Hunter installment hasn't been announced yet, but in the meantime, you can look forward to the upcoming augmented reality game Monster Hunter Now, which is being developed by Pokemon Go studio Niantic. Despite Niantic's recent troubles (thanks, Eurogamer), Monster Hunter Now still appears to be in the pipeline, but we'll bring you any news on changes to those plans as soon as we get it.
Monster Hunter Rise and its expansion Sunbreak are available right now for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. You can also take a look at our Monster Hunter Rise guides, which will help to get your journey through this unforgiving monster-slaying world started.
