Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak sales have smashed through the 5 million barrier, proving that the latest iteration of the Monster Hunter series still has plenty of life in it yet. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne has also passed a pretty significant sales milestone, so it's all looking up for your favorite monster-slaying RPG franchise.
Since it launched in June last year, Sunbreak has done pretty impressive numbers; it racked up 2 million sales within a week of its launch, and now it's managed to cross the 5 million mark. Not bad for a game that hasn't been out for a year and that isn't yet available on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.
In addition, if you're a Monster Hunter fan, you'll be pleased to know that Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the expansion to 2018's Monster Hunter World, has racked up over 10 million sales since it launched. Capcom attributes this success to "strategic pricing", but the company doesn't clarify exactly what it means by that.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak continues to receive regular content updates, adding things like new monsters, new quests, and new aesthetics for your hunter. The next update, Title Update 4, will bring hunter loadouts for easy gear switching, and we're expecting an injection of new monsters to fight and quests to take on as well. It's due to arrive in February.
You can grab Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak right now on PC and Nintendo Switch. It's an expansion for the base Monster Hunter Rise game, so you'll need to play through that before you can enjoy Sunbreak. Both Rise and Sunbreak are also scheduled to hit PlayStation consoles and Xbox platforms on January 20th.
