This guide will tell you how to get Metal Scraps in Enshrouded and where you can reliably farm this essential crafting resource.

A big part of Enshrouded is getting all of the resources you need to craft more powerful gear and build your base. One of the most important resources in the early game is Metal Scraps -- read on to learn how to get Metal Scraps in Enshrouded!

Some enemies (such as Scavengers) can drop Metal Scraps on death.

Enshrouded Metal Scraps - Best Methods

There are three ways to get Metal Scraps in Enshrouded:

  1. Kill Scavenger enemies in abandoned towns.
  2. Loot Metal Scraps from abandoned towns and other locations.
  3. Destroy furniture in abandoned towns and other locations.

There are no other ways to get Metal Scraps as far as we found. Though you might occasionally find Metal Scraps as loot in other areas, your best bet for finding them is to explore Abandoned Towns. (There are other useful items to find there, too, such as seeds for farming!)

What Metal Scraps Are Used For

First and foremost, Metal Scraps are used to craft some of the basic equipment you'll get at the start of the game. The Scrappy Sword, Scrappy Pickaxe, and Scrappy Axe all require Metal Scraps.

Naturally, Metal Scraps can be used to make the Fur Armor set, the first proper armor set that's a step up from the Rags Armor that you can craft via your inventory.

Metal Scraps are needed to complete one of the early-game armor sets.

When you're ready to advance to the next stage of equipment, you'll need to rescue the Blacksmith NPC. You'll then be able to make a Charcoal Kiln and a Forge. The Forge requires Metal Scraps in order to make it.

Once you've placed a Forge, you'll be able to convert Metal Scraps into Metal Sheets. These can be used for the next tier of armor along with some other useful items (and a fair number of decorations for your buildings, too.)

Best Way to Farm Metal Scraps in Enshrouded

The best way to farm Metal Scraps in Enshrouded is to repeatedly visit the abandoned towns occupied by Scavengers. Clear out a town, then move on to the next one and clear it out, too.

The abandoned towns of Rookmore and Woodgard to the northwest of the starting area are filled with plenty of containers to loot. They both also have enemies that can drop Metal Scraps on death (though there is no guarantee -- loot is randomized in Enshrouded).

As with most things outside of your base, the abandoned towns -- containers, enemies, and all -- will eventually respawn. This will allow you to go back and clear them out again in order to get more Metal Scraps.

Don't worry too much about collecting hundreds of Metal Scraps in the early game; you'll quickly move on to other resources such as Copper once you've started exploring further north and rescuing more NPCs. If you do need them, though, you now know where to find them!
