Publisher Hooded Horse and developer Slavic Magic have announced that Manor Lords sales crossed a major milestone within the game's first day on release.
Manor Lords finally launched on Friday, and given that it was frequently at or near the top of the Steam wishlist charts during the period prior to its release, the fact that it's done well probably won't come as much of a surprise.
Speaking on X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend, Hooded Horse announced that Manor Lords sold a million copies within just one day, which is pretty impressive for an indie effort mostly created by just one person.
In addition to this impressive sales figure, the Manor Lords Steam player count topped 170,000 over the weekend, which Hooded Horse says is the "highest ever for a city-builder".
According to the publisher, this figure is also higher than any concurrent player count for adjacent genres like 4X, colony sims, and grand strategy games like Total War or Crusader Kings (although Manor Lords emphatically is not one of those).
Manor Lords developer Slavic Magic reposted Hooded Horse's congratulatory message, too, describing the news as "a bit crazy" and thanking fans for giving his game a chance.
Slavic Magic also detailed what's coming in the next Manor Lords update, including fixes for "all the weird homeless bugs", archer damage tuning, and AI territory claiming rates being slowed down, plus more.
If you haven't checked out Manor Lords, it's a city-builder with a focus on simulation mechanics, albeit one that also offers the chance to engage in large-scale battles.
The game launched in Early Access on Friday and has proven a runaway hit, although many of the 18,000 Steam reviews (yes, even the positive ones) caution that Manor Lords is relatively barebones as far as content goes right now.
Manor Lords is available right now on PC via Steam Early Access, and it's also part of PC Game Pass, which means you can play it at no extra cost if you're a subscriber.
