Our Abiotic Factor Guns Guide will tell you how to get a gun and how you can get more advanced weaponry in the Manufacturing Sector and beyond.
Getting a gun is a big step in Abiotic Factor — it's a serious game-changer, especially when you have to fight some of the tougher enemies. Unfortunately, you can't craft the best guns, so you'll have to explore the facility and kill enemies to get them. Read on to learn more about guns in Abiotic Factor!
How to Get a Gun in Abiotic Factor
You can get a gun in Abiotic Factor by crafting the Keypad Hacker and opening up the door to the Security Checkpoint in Office Sector Level 2 on the map. A Security Pistol and some 9mm ammo can be found on the second floor of this area, although you'll want to conserve your bullets until you get to the Manufacturing Sector.
Here's a step-by-step process. First, you'll need to craft the Keypad Hacker. This requires the following resources:
- 3 Security Bot CPU
- 10 Circuit Boards
- 6 Tech Scrap
- 3 Case Fans
- 2 Keyboards
- 2 Desk Phones
- 1 Box of Screws
- 2 Glass Scrap
- 1 Test Tube
- 1 Bio Scrap
You'll need to craft 3 Computation Bricks and a Glow Stick. You can then use those to make a Controller, an Infrared Emitter, and an LCD Screen. Finally, you can combine the Controller, Infrared Emittor, and LCD Screen into a Keypad Hacker. Equip the Keypad Hacker into its slot on the character screen.
Once you have the Keypad Hacker, head up to Reception. Turn left at Reception and keep walking until you see a sign that says "Security Office" pointing to the left. You'll see a broken Forklift with a sparking wire next to it.
Walk past the broken Forklift and continue down the tunnel.
A short distance later, you'll see the Security Office sealed behind a locked door.
Walk up to the keypad and use the Keypad Hacker on it. The doors will open and you can go inside.
Go up the stairs on the left and you'll find another door locked by a keypad. Open it with the Keypad Hacker and you'll enter the firing range. You can pick up the Security Pistol and several boxes of 9mm Ammo.
Once you have the Security Pistol, walk to the cage to the left of the shooting range and follow the tunnel down. You can fall through the floor and land in a locker room with a large number of Backpacks. This locker room can take you back into the security office.
The security office, firing range, and surrounding area have a lot of tech resources and 2 Water Coolers, so you'll definitely want to loot as much as you can while you're here. You can also talk to Dr. Stewart to learn a little more about the story.
How to Get Ammo
Although you have a gun, you only have a limited amount of ammo. You can find more in the Manufacturing Sector here and there, but your main source of ammo will be killing Order Soldiers in the Manufacturing Sector and while defending your base from base raids.
Take care not to use your ammo carelessly — if you run out, there's no easy way to replace it! Consider using the Crossbow or other crafted ranged weapons whenever you can since it's a renewable source of ammo.
You can find a decent amount of renewable ammo in the following Portal Worlds and other areas:
- 9mm Ammo: Train, Rise, Hydroplant
- .357 Magnum Ammo: Rise, Hydroplant
- Shotgun Shell: Rise, Voussoir, Hydroplant
- 5.56 Ammo: Voussoir
- .306 Ammo: Hydroplant
The Best Guns Can't Be Repaired Easily
Unfortunately, the best guns can't be easily repaired — you'll need to use a Light Gun Repair Kit or Intermediate Gun Repair Kit to fix them depending on the gun.
That said, you can get a healthy supply of guns by killing Order members all over the GATE Facility and in Portal Worlds. You'll need to get to Accuracy 10 to unlock the Biometric Armwraps before you can use these guns, so you should make leveling up that Skill a priority if you wish to use the best possible guns.
Abiotic Factor Guns List
Here are all of the guns we've found in Abiotic Factor as of the Early Access launch version. It's important to note that guns cannot be repaired as far as we can tell, so don't use them carelessly!
Pipe Pistol
- Damage: 50
- Durability: 30
- Weight: 3
- Magazine Size: 1
- Ammo: Scrapshot Ammo
- Repairs With: Tech Scrap
The Pipe Pistol is the first craftable gun that you'll be able to get. Although it's pretty weak, its hand-crafted nature means that you'll actually be able to repair it.
Scrapshot
- Damage: 12
- Durability: 20
- Weight: 8
- Magazine Size: 1
- Ammo: Scrapshot Ammo
- Repairs With: Tech Scrap
The Scrapshot is essentially the craftable shotgun version of the Pipe Pistol. Although it only has one shot, it is effectively a shotgun — the damage of 12 is per pellet. That makes this a devastating weapon when used up close.
Scrapshot FL
- Damage: 12
- Durability: 20
- Weight: 6.38
- Magazine Size: 1
- Ammo: Scrapshot Ammo
- Battery: 500
- Repairs With: Tech Scrap
The Scrapshot FL combines a Scrapshot and a Flashlight into one item with crafting. You can repair this weapon.
Security Pistol
- Damage: 26
- Durability: 35
- Weight: 2.25
- Magazine Size: 8
- Ammo: 9mm
- Repairs With: Light Gun Repair Kit
A single Security Pistol can be found in the Security Office in the Office Sector Level 2, but you'll need a Keypad Hacker to get to it. There aren't many static spawns for Security Pistols in the world, but they can occasionally drop off of Order soldiers if you get lucky.
Security Pistol FL
- Damage: 28
- Durability: 30
- Weight: 2.4
- Magazine Size: 8
- Ammo: 9mm
- Battery: 500
- Repairs With: Light Gun Repair Kit
You can craft the Security Pistol FL by combining a Security Pistol with a Flashlight. It essentially combines the functionality of both items into one space. It is otherwise unaffected and does the same damage as the standard Security Pistol.
Talagi Magnum
- Damage: 100
- Durability: 30
- Weight: 7
- Magazine Size: 6
- Ammo: .357 Magnum
- Requires Biometric Armwraps due to Biometric Lock
- Repairs With: Light Gun Repair Kit
The Talagi Magnum has a chance to drop off of Order Captains (the soldiers with the red berets). It hits fairly hard, but ammo for it is rare since most Order soldiers don't carry it.
The Military Magnum has a Biometric Lock on it. That means that you can't use it until you craft the Biometric Armwraps.
Montese SMG
- Damage: 25
- Durability: 25
- Weight: 5
- Magazine Size: 15
- Ammo: 9mm
- Requires Biometric Armwraps due to Biometric Lock
- Repairs With: Light Gun Repair Kit
The Submachine Gun is dropped by Order soldiers in the Manufacturing Sector and beyond. It does slightly less damage than the Security Pistol, but it has a larger magazine and a higher rate of fire. Nearly every Order soldier will drop one in later areas and certain Portal Worlds (such as The Train and Rise), so you can come by replacements pretty easily.
You won't be able to use this gun until you get your Accuracy Skill to Level 10 and unlock the Mil-Spec / Biometric Armwraps perk. You'll also need to craft the Biometric Armwraps since the Submachine Gun has a Biometric Lock.
Antique Shotgun
- Damage: 30
- Durability: 30
- Weight: 6
- Magazine Size: 2
- Ammo: 12g Buckshot
- Repairs With: Light Gun Repair Kit
The Antique Shotgun is a unique item that can be found in the Cascade Laboratories in one of the containment cells. It has a small chance to respawn according to some player reports.
Romag Shotgun
- Damage: 20
- Durability: 15
- Weight: 6
- Magazine Size: 6
- Ammo: 12g Buckshot
- Requires Biometric Armwraps due to Biometric Lock
- Repairs With: Light Gun Repair Kit
The Romag Shotgun is covered by Order Breachers (the beefy Order Soldiers with the glass full-face helmets). Those same soldiers will drop 12g Buckshot when you kill them.
Although you can occasionally encounter an Order Breacher in the Cascade Laboratories, you'll find many more Order Breachers in the Rise Portal World and the Hydroplant.
Patois Rifle
- Damage: 50
- Durability: 30
- Weight: 7
- Magazine Size: 30
- Ammo: 5.56
- Requires Bio-Mimic Armwraps due to Biometric Lock
- Repairs With: Intermediate Gun Repair Kit
The Patois Rifle is the first true assault rifle that you can get in Abiotic Factor. Unfortunately, it is even more advanced than the previous guns and you'll need to have Bio-Mimic Armwraps which requires 15 points in the Accuracy Skill. You'll also need the rarer Intermediate Gun Repair Kits to fix it.
You can get a Patois Rifle by killing Order Soldiers found in Voussoir, the sole Portal World that is found in the Hydroplant Sector.
Wessex Rifle
- Damage: 90
- Durability: 30
- Weight: 7
- Magazine Size: 5
- Ammo: .308
- Requires Bio-Mimic Armwraps due to Biometric Lock
- Repairs With: Intermediate Gun Repair Kit
The Wessex Rifle is a true sniper rifle. You can get it by killing Order Snipers found throughout the GATE Facility and in certain Portal Worlds such as Rise.
This powerful gun is so advanced that you'll need Accuracy 15 and the Bio-Mimic Armwraps in order to use it. You'll also need an Intermediate Gun Repair Kit to fix it.
