Disgaea 7 Anime Trailer

Today Nippon Ichi Software had a new trailer and news in store for those eagerly awaiting its strategy JRPG Makai Senki Disgaea 7.

First of all, we get an anime-style trailer showing the characters of the game (of whom we have already seen specific trailers featuring FujiPiririka, Wei-Yasu, Seefour, and Suisen).

You can watch the trailer below.

Perhaps more interestingly, for good or for ill, is the vast set of DLC that is coming for the game.

There are seven packages of characters coming, each costing 1,100 yen (approximately $9), to be delivered between February 2 and February 16.

  • Laharl, Etna, Rozalin - February 2
  • Adell, Seraphina, Fuha - February 2
  • Mao, Desco, Axel, - February 2
  • Valvatorez, Fenrich, Flonne - February 2
  • Killia, Melodia, Artina - February 16
  • Zed, Bieko, Sicily - February 16
  • Raspberyl, Usalia, Girl Laharl - February 16.

A season pass will be available for 6,600 yen (approximately $52, basically, you pay for six packages but get all seven), granting Pleinair from Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories as a bonus.

On top of this arguably fairly expensive group of DLC, Nippon Ichi Software is also selling consumable boosters. A "Starter Help Set" is free, while Hell Bags, Mana Bags, and 100% Boost Tickets cost 110 yen (a little less than a dollar), 400 Boost Tickets cost 330 yen, and 900% Boost Tickets cost 550 yen.

Disgaea 7 (Titled "Makai Senki Disgaea 7" in Japanese) is the latest game of the popular franchise of over-the-top strategy JRPGs Disgaea. It'll launch in Japan for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on January 26, 2023. A demo in Japanese is currently available on local digital stores if you'd like to try it out.

Despite the fact that the Japanese release is coming close, we don't yet have any information about an English localization. That being said, it's extremely likely that NIS America (which is the western arm of Nippon Ichi Software itself) will bring it to the west at some point relatively soon.

The game is set in a netherworld inspired by feudal Japan where Bushido has been stolen. Fuji and Piririka travel the land in search of legendary weapons to restore the status quo, joined by a band of peculiar companions. The game includes the traditional gameplay of the series and enhances it with even more destructive techniques, including the ability to turn into giants and wreak havoc on the battlefield.
