Disgaea 7

Today Nippon Ichi Software released a playable demo in Japanese of the upcoming strategy JRPG Makai Senki Disgaea 7, alongside a new trailer.

The demo is available on the Japanese PlayStation Store for PS5 and PS4, and Nintendo eShop for Switch. Of course, the related Japanese accounts are required to play and English language is not available, albeit gameplay is fairly intuitive, especially if you're used to the franchise.

You can play the first two chapters of the game, providing a chance to try out the new characters and features. The save data will transfer to the final version, albeit it's likely that it won't be compatible with the English release when it finally comes.

Speaking of characters, the second character trailer (following yesterday's focused on Fuji) introduces Piririka. She's basically a complete week from a different netherworld who is obsessed with the Japanese-like netherworld where the game is set, always trying to recruit others into following her misguided idea of Bushido. She is a "hyper-good-natured" person and whenever she meets someone who is evil, she defends them arguing that there must have been a reason for them to become that way.

You can check the trailer out below.

Disgaea 7 (Titled "Makai Senki Disgaea 7" in Japanese) is the latest game of the popular franchise of over-the-top strategy JRPGs Disgaea. It'll release in Japan for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on January 26, 2023.

Despite the fact that the Japanese release is coming close, we don't yet have news about an English localization, albeit it'd be surprising if NIS America (which is the western arm of Nippon Ichi Software itself, hence the acronym) didn't bring this west at some point relatively soon.

The game is set in a netherworld inspired by feudal Japan where Bushido has been stolen. Fuji and Piririka travel the land in search of legendary weapons to restore the status quo. The game includes the traditional gameplay of the series and enhances it with even more destructive techniques, including the ability to turn into giants and wreak havoc on the battlefield.
