Today Colossal Order released another video showing off the upcoming and highly-anticipated city-builder Cities: Skylines 2, focusing on the economy.
The video is very extensive, expanding on the trailer released earlier this week, and explaining how production works and how various kinds of companies approach generating and selling goods and services, and how citizens spend their money on them.
It's a system that the developers describe as "complex but not complicated" and we get to take a look at housing, industry (including specialized, with its own new systems), commercial companies, and offices.
Each categories has its needs and outputs, and they all interact neatly with each other. The system seems to be a lot more flexible than what we had in the original Cities: Skylines, offering a lot more room for player decisions.
You can watch the video below.
Cities: Skylines 2 releases on October 24, 2023, for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. It'll also launch on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
If you'd like to see more, there are many more videos you can enjoy, including the original reveal from March and a brand new trailer shared at the Xbox Games Showcase, where the release date was also announced.
We also have a video on roads and traffic, another deep dive on the same topic like today's video, one on cargo transportation and its own deep dive, one on zoning and its own developer commentary, one on city services alongside its developer diary, and one on climate with its own deeper dive.
