Today Colossal Order and Paradox Entertainment released a new video about the upcoming city builder Cities: Skylines 2, focusing on transportation.

Specifically, it's a deeper dive into the topic with plenty of development commentary following the video introducing the public and cargo transportation released on Monday.

We get to see how you can lay down bus depots and then manually design each line, pretty much as we did in the original Cities Skylines. Depots can be upgraded to support electric buses, while railyards can be upgraded to increase capacity.

Speaking of bus lines, you can create intercity bus lines, while before it was automatic, and trams are included in the base game.

As usual, cargo ships are traffic megatons when they dock, but you can actually draw cargo lines between stops and outside connections manually, which should help mitigate the issues. You can also adjust the number of ships and operating hours.

Only buses and taxis are unlocked via milestones, while all other types of transportation are unlocked via development points. These include trains, trams, subways, ships, airport, international airport (which is as big as a small town), and even a space center.

We also take a look at the info view panels that let you work on each line and find data about them at a glance. You can check out the video and all these elements below.

Cities: Skylines 2 releases on October 24, 2023, for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. It'll also come to Xbox Game Pass on day one.

If you'd like to see more, you can enjoy the original reveal from March and a brand new trailer shared at the Xbox Games Showcase, where the release date was also announced, a video on roads and traffic, and another deep dive on the same topic like today's video.
