Today Bandai Namco announced the release date of its upcoming anime-inspired action JRPG Sand Land.

The game will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on April 26, 2024.

Alongside the announcement, we also get a new trailer revealing a new character, the ace mechanic Ann. She's the first female character revealed for the game.

We also get a good glimpse at the story, on top of plenty of gameplay. Specifically, the trailer shows that the game's world goes much beyond the desert, and has a wide variety of biomes.

There is also a wide variety of vehicles beyond tanks, from land speeders to mecha.

You can watch it below. Incidentally, this one has voice-overs in English. A version with Japanese voices is available at the official YouTube channel if that is your preference

The accompanying press release included a list of the editions of the game and their content, with pre-orders available now. Incidentally, if you pre-order, you get the Survivalist Camp Pack as a bonus.

In case you're unfamiliar with the franchise, Sand Land is inspired by a manga by Akira Toriyama (the ultra-popular creator of Dragon Ball) published on Weekly Shounen Jump in 2000.

An anime movie was released in 2003, while a full-fledged anime series aptly titled Sand Land: The Series will air in spring 2024 exclusively on Disney streaming platforms. It's a collaboration between Sunrise, Kamikaze Douga, and Anima.

If you'd like to see more of the game, you can check out the previous trailer, another video, and one more focusing on the story, both in English and Japanese.

One thing is for sure. The game certainly feels like the modern Metal Max game that many fans of the series wish they received over the past few years.
