Details regarding open-world action RPG Genshin Impact's upcoming 1.1 update may have leaked online. If the leak is legit, it promises an overhaul to the game's gacha-based summoning system and some new 8-player content to enjoy.
What's in Genshin Impact update 1.1?
Testing on Genshin Impact update 1.1 started in confidentiality back in mid-September (please note: we're using machine translation for this article). Following this, Reddit user Gauntlet2010 posted a screenshot of a supposedly authentic set of update notes, which they claim were translated from the official Chinese website. TechRaptor has done a little digging and has found a screenshot that - while entirely in Chinese - would appear to feature similar information to the Reddit notes.
If the notes are legit, there's some exciting stuff coming to Genshin Impact soon. Perhaps the biggest news is an overhaul to the game's gacha system. Gacha rolls won't display rates anymore. Rolling 10 times guarantees a 4-star Bonding Fate item and a 4-star weapon, while rolling 50 times guarantees a 5-star Bonding Fate and a 5-star weapon. You can exchange Bonding Fates for characters of equivalent value, although the 5-star Bonding Fates can only be used for banner characters, which expire once the banner is over. If you've rolled in version 1.0, you'll receive the amount of Bonding Fate equivalent to what you would have gotten in 1.1 for the same rolls.
There are a range of other changes coming to Genshin Impact, too. Update 1.1 will add new 8-player challenges and puzzle sidequests. The main story will be updated to the Teyvat chapter, which will be available to everyone who's reached Adventure Rank 32. There are lots of other tweaks too, like statues showing oculi on the map once they're level 9 and getting notifications when friends are online.
Can we trust this Genshin Impact leak?
Unfortunately, we have no way to verify the leak or attest to its veracity. The notes don't feel outlandish, though; these changes are reasonable and would make sense for Genshin Impact, and there's nothing here that feels out of the realms of possibility. Until we know more, we can't state one way or the other, but we're sure hoping these changes are real, because there's lots of great stuff in here.
You can grab Genshin Impact as a free-to-play game right now on PC, PlayStation 4, and mobile devices. If you're playing Genshin Impact, you've got until version 1.1 lands to reach Adventure Rank 20, at which point you'll receive Barbara as a party member for free.
