The Elden Ring Seamless Coop mod is releasing on May 27th, 2022 on PC, and adds in a feature that Elden Ring fans have been begging for since release: a way to play unfettered coop with their friends. Basically, the mod "removes all multiplayer boundaries and allows for connections to persist after death", which is fantastic news. Game progression is also shared between all players, which can range up to a party of 4, or 1 host and 3 guest players.
For those who have four friends they want to play with, you won't be able to play with more than 4 players, as it was deemed to be "out of the scope of the project". That's more than fair, especially considering this mod is giving us 4-player persistent coop when we had nothing beforehand. There also won't be invasions, but if you need your fix PvP can be enabled between members of your party in order to get your hate on.
For those that are worrying: no, you won't be banned, as the mod doesn't connect to FromSoftware's online services. There isn't an anti-cheat either, as the mod uses a separate launcher which runs the game without Easy Anti-Cheat.
Items are also unique to every player, so if a boss drops a talisman pouch than everyone will get it. The same applies to items found in the world and other enemy drops. The Grace/bonfires resets will apply to every player as well, and if a non-open world boss is engaged by one character at the time then they will be placed back outside the fog wall and the fight will be reset. Other mods can be used if all players have them installed and active, so if only you have a randomiser it will only work for you.
