From Software has announced a major piece of Elden Ring DLC. Shadow of the Erdtree is the game's first big expansion, and although we don't know much about it yet, it's likely to add new bosses, new areas to explore, and plenty more. Exciting times if you're one of the 20 million people who have bought this game so far.
This DLC was announced via the official Elden Ring Twitter account earlier today. In the announcement tweet, From Software bids the Tarnished to "walk a new path", revealing that the "upcoming expansion" Shadow of the Erdtree is currently in development. The studio closes by hoping that fans and players "look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between".
The tweet doesn't tell us too much about what we can expect from the new Elden Ring DLC expansion, but the concept art might give us a couple of clues. It shows what appears to be the mighty Erdtree from Elden Ring burnt and dripping ash while a blonde figure atop Torrent looks on.
Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together.

The blonde figure bears a strong resemblance to Miquella, one of Elden Ring's gods, which could mean that the tree is in fact the Haligtree and not the Erdtree (although the name of the DLC suggests otherwise). In characteristic From Software style, the concept art is evocative but rather vague, so we'll probably have to wait for further information before we know exactly what we're doing in Shadow of the Erdtree.
Creating a DLC expansion for Elden Ring makes sense given how popular the game has become. Released last February, Elden Ring has gone on to sell 20 million copies, easily making it the most commercially successful Souls game (although it doesn't bear the Souls name, it shares most of the series' gameplay hallmarks and was directed by the mastermind behind the Souls franchise).
If you're yet to play Elden Ring, you can pick it up right now on PC via Steam, as well as on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. We don't have a release date for Shadow of the Erdtree yet, so stay tuned to TechRaptor for more news about this exciting upcoming expansion.
