Cities: Skylines 2 Classic River of Poop

Cities: Skylines 2 just received another video focusing on three rather important elements of city management, electricity, water, and sewage.

This time around, electricity is handled slightly differently from the previous game. You will have to bring the power to transformers via high-voltage power lines, and the transformers will distribute it through the low-voltage cables included in the streets.

Interestingly, a poorly designed grid can create bottlenecks when demand increases, and you can import and export electricity from neighboring cities.

Electricity demand is also influenced by hot and cold weather, like in the real world. Emergency battery stations can store excess electricity for emergencies if you'd rather not export your surplus. These are also important in conjunction with solar plants.

Speaking of water, the usual surface water sources (ocean, lakes, and rivers) are flanked by groundwater sources that replenish over time. These can be affected by ground pollution.

We also get how you can treat (or release) sewage to get rid of all that poop produced by your citizens. Yes, you can still create those juicy brown stains on the nearby bodies of water if you're into that. After all, they're a classic Cities: Skylines feature.

You can watch the video below.

Cities: Skylines 2 releases on October 24, 2023, for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. It'll also come to Xbox Game Pass on day one.

If you'd like to see more, you can enjoy the original reveal from March and a brand new trailer shared at the Xbox Games Showcase, where the release date was also announced, a video on roads and trafficanother deep dive on the same topic like today's video, one on cargo transportation and its own deep diveone on zoning and its own developer commentary, and one on city services alongside its developer diary.
