In our Lightyear Frontier Storage Guide, we'll tell you how storage works and how you can use it to stockpile the dozens of items you'll find.

Once you've gotten started with Lightyear Frontier, you'll start exploring the world and gathering a pretty fat chunk of resources. Sure, you can sell some of your excess junk to the Merchant, but it's probably best to hold onto some things — read on to learn everything you need to know about storage!

How Storage Works in Lightyear Frontier

As with most games, the storage system in Lightyear Frontier allows you to offload items from your inventory and keep them safe in a static location. All items have Weight, so holding onto too much stuff will give you the "Overencumbered" debuff and prevent you from running or using your Thrusters.

That same Weight system also applies to storage. Each and every storage chest has a maximum capacity in terms of Weight and you can't exceed it; if you run out of room, you'll have to build additional chests.

Naturally, some of the storage chests have larger capacities or special conditions. Generally speaking, unlocking metal ingots (such as Iron) and other higher-tier resources will give you access to bigger and better storage options.

Don't worry too much about wasting resources on building a lot of chests. Remember, you can always deconstruct items in building mode and get back all of the resources you've invested in them — it's better to organize everything properly and transfer it to bigger containers at a later time when you have the option to do so.
