This Lightyear Frontier Homestead Building Guide will tell you how Homesteads work and how you can increase Coziness to unlock new Coziness Effects!

Although you'll spend a lot of time exploring the map in Lightyear Frontier, it's always nice to have somewhere to sleep at night (and plant your crops, too). In this guide, we'll tell you how Homesteads work and how you can unlock game-changing buffs by decorating them.

How a Homestead Works

A Homestead has two functions in Lightyear Frontier: it allows you to sleep and it gives you Coziness Effects which can give you buffs. You can go to sleep anytime after Noon. When you do, time will fast-forward and a new day will start.

As far as we can tell, you can place as many Homesteads on the map as you'd like. That said, it seems that you'll only get the Coziness Effects bonuses from the Homestead you actually sleep at. It's a good idea to have one "main" Homestead, ideally near your farms.

Decorations will only count towards your Coziness Effects if they're placed within the dotted borders near the Homestead.

How to Increase Coziness

Simply put, you can increase Coziness by placing Decorations in the area around your Homestead. Only Decorations placed within the border surrounding your Homestead will increase the bonus.

Placing unique Decorations will give you a large boost to Coziness. Placing the same exact type of Decoration will give you a much smaller bonus. It's easiest to place a variety of Decorations rather than a bunch of the same type.

There are a total of 4 Coziness levels in the Early Access launch version of Lightyear Frontier, and each Homestead has a maximum level. You'll need to build a bigger Homestead if you want to unlock more Coziness Effects.

The Hammock doesn't have much potential for increasing Coziness Effects, but it can be cheaply built anywhere and it makes an ideal place to quickly go to sleep if you're far from home.

Lightyear Frontier Homestead Building Costs

Here's what it costs to build each of the Homesteads. You can unlock new Homesteads by acquiring all of the ingredients involved in building it, unless that Homestead is purchased from the Merchant.

Small Tent

  • Building Cost: 20 Plant Fiber, 8 Wood
  • Coziness Max: 1

The Small Tent is the very first Homestead that you'll unlock at the very start of the game.

Small Cabin

  • Building Cost: 25 Wood, 40 Plant Fiber, 4 Aluminum Frame
  • Coziness Max: 2

The Small Cabin is a proper structure that provides your second Coziness Effect.

House

  • Building Cost: 25 Hardwood, 12 Clay, 4 Iron Frame, 4 Clear Glass
  • Coziness Max: 3

The House is a larger Homestead that opens up yet another Coziness Effect.

Mansion

  • Building Cost: 50 Hardwood, 4 Steel Frame, 4 Fractalite Bar, 8 Clear Glass
  • Coziness Max: 4

The Mansion is the largest Homestead in the Early Access launch version of Lightyear Frontier.

Hammock

  • Building Cost: 4 Wood, 15 Plant Fiber
  • Coziness Max: 1

The Hammock is a small, cheap Homestead that's ideal for using to sleep when you're away from your main Homestead. You can purchase the Blueprint for it from the Merchant.

You can change the color of your Homestead (and most other buildings) by using the Paint Gun when you're dismounted from your Mech.

List of Coziness Effects

Here are all of the Coziness Effects that you can activate depending on the number of decorations you have on your Homestead.

  1. Keen Eye: You have a chance to find additional resources in the wild.
  2. Animal Friend: Animals have a chance to dig up additional resources when fed.
  3. Critical Strike: Spike Saw strikes and swings have a chance to deal additional damage.
  4. Bountiful Yield: Harvested crops have a chance to yield additional resources.
