When you're exploring the map in Lightyear Frontier, you'll inevitably come across some strange alien ruins. These won't have any special resources for you to collect, but they will have mysterious objects called Artifacts. This guide will tell you what you need to know about these strange alien items.
How Artifacts Work
Simply put, Artifacts are collectibles that can be found in Ancient Ruins spread throughout the map. These items don't have any use on their own, but collecting them all can get you a nice benefit.
If you manage to collect all of the Artifacts in an area, you'll immediately unlock a unique Decoration for your Homestead. It's not strictly necessary to complete the game, but it can be fun if you're looking for some quirky, alien-like Decorations!
How to Find Artifacts
You can find Artifacts in Lightyear Frontier by heading to Ancient Ruins and thoroughly exploring the area. You'll want to look for purple crystals lying on the ground. When you see one, hit it with your Spike Saw to break it open and you can then grab the Artifact.
Unfortunately, there is no special trick to finding Artifacts other than looking around carefully. A counter will appear on the bottom-left of the screen when you're in an Ancient Ruins which shows you how many you've found so far. If the counter disappears, you're too far away from the Ancient Ruins.
Generally speaking, Artifacts appear to be contained within some sort of alien ruins that are indicated by metallic walls with glowing purple lines of energy coursing through them. If you see something like this, the odds are good that you are near Ancient Ruins (or some other type of story objective).

The above image shows confirmed locations where you can find Artifacts in Lightyear Frontier. Each of these locations has several Artifacts; collecting them all will unlock a unique Decoration for your Homestead.
