How Lightyear Frontier Crafting Works

The Lightyear Frontier crafting system requires that you build Crafting Constructs (workbenches) from your Mech. When you do, you can use these Crafting Constructs to process resources into new advanced materials.

For the most part, refining resources will take time; for example, making Plant Oil takes 1 minute of real-world time if the Oil Press is underneath a Workshop Shed. There are some exceptions, though; everything made in the Assembler is created instantly.

How to Unlock New Crafting Recipes

You can unlock new crafting recipes by finding new resources. Much like Valheim, new crafting recipes will be unlocked once you have all of the ingredients required to make it.

Simply put, you'll need to keep restoring Regions to gain access to new basic crafting resources and then use those to make new advanced resources in the Crafting Constructs (workbenches). You can find out which resources you need to make everything in the crafting recipe lists further down in this guide.

Crafting Constructs / Workbench Recipes List

Here is what it takes to make all of the Crafting Constructs (workbenches) that you can use to make new materials from the resources you find in the world.

Workshop Shed

  • Crafting Cost: 24 Wood

The Workshop Shed will speed up crafting for any Crafting Constructs (workbenches) placed underneath it. You should always put Crafting Constructs underneath a Workshop Shed as soon as you can.

Fodder Oven

  • Crafting Cost: 20 Stone, 6 Wood, 2 Plant Oil

The Fodder Oven makes food for feeding animals, which helps resources respawn faster. It takes time for each fodder item to be crafted.

Oil Presser

  • Crafting Cost: 16 Stone, 12 Wood

The Oil Press converts crops you grow from farming into oils. These oils are used in many crafting recipes and Mech Upgrades. It takes time for each unit of oil to be manufactured.

Assembler

  • Crafting Cost: 10 Aluminum Rod, 10 Stone, 4 Plant Oil

The Assembler instantly processes resources into more complex crafting materials.

Flower Press

  • Crafting Cost: 6 Copper Ore, 4 Aluminum Frame

The Flower Press converts Colorflowers into Paints which can be used to change the color of your Mech, your Homestead, and other structures.

Grinder

  • Crafting Cost: 12 Stone, 4 Copper Wire, 4 Aluminum Rod

The grinder also converts resources into new materials. It takes time for them to process.

Color Mixer

  • Crafting Cost: 10 Red Crystal Dust, 12 Hardwood

The Color Mixer lets you combine two Paints into a new color.

Furnace

  • Crafting Cost: 12 Clay, 12 Wood

The Furnace is primarily used to make ores into bars and powder into glass. It requires Coal to process most materials.

Compost Box

  • Crafting Cost: 20 Wood, 4 Zappertwig Oil

The Compost Box converts plants into Fertilizer for farming.

Barn

  • Crafting Cost: 30 Softwood, 4 Iron Bar

The Barn is a larger building akin to the Workshop Shed; placing Crafting Constructs inside of it will speed up the crafting time.

Solar Dehydrator

  • Crafting Cost: 5 Fractalite Bar, 2 Iron Frame, 9 Chromaize Oil

The Solar Dehydrator turns resources into new materials over time.

Advanced Furnace

  • Crafting Cost: 12 Glo Wood, 6 Copper Wire, 1 Power Core

The Advanced Furnace is just like the Furnace except it uses Dried Glo Fruit instead of Coal for fuel. It processes materials significantly faster.
