Our Lightyear Frontier Animals Guide will tell you how Animal Nests work and how you can feed animals to get free resources in exchange!

You'll need to gather a lot of resources to progress in Lightyear Frontier, whether you're using them to build new crafting stations or upgrade your Mech. Animals can help you get resources faster if you know how to use them; this guide will tell you everything you need to know about animals!

Feeding a red bird with Fodder to get resources
If you dismount from your Mech, you can walk up to an animal, feed them Fodder, and get a random resource in return.

How Animals Work in Lightyear Frontier

The animals in Lightyear Frontier will help give you resources in one of two ways depending on how you interact with them. Firstly, filling up all of a Region's Animal Nests with food will increase resource regeneration for that Region overnight.

As an alternative, you can dismount from your Mech and walk up to animals directly. Feed them the appropriate Fodder and they'll dig up a resource or a farming seed related to the Region you're in. Don't try to approach animals while you're in your mech; you'll just scare them off.

Each Region has a total of 3 Animal Nests, and the Animals in each Region prefer a different type of Fodder. You can find the recipes for making Animal Fodder in our Crafting Guide. If you're farming a particular resource, it's a good idea to stock up on Fodder and fill all of the Animal Nests every day to increase its respawn rate.

The green dots on the above map show where you can find all of the Animal Nests in Lightyear Frontier.

Keep in mind that some Animal Nests are found underground in caves. If you can't find an Animal Nest at a location on this map, look around the area for a cave. (As a bonus, there's a good chance that you'll find useful resources there, too.)
