In this guide, we'll show you the full Lightyear Frontier map and tell you what you need to do in order to restore every Region in the game!

Once you've completed the tutorial and set up a basic Homestead, you're going to want to start exploring the world of Lightyear Frontier and start Restoring Regions. Read on for the full world map, locations of Noxious Sludge and Weeds, and an explanation of what you need to unlock each Region!

Lightyear Frontier Map

Lightyear Frontier map with borders around each Region

The Lightyear Frontier map consists of eight distinct regions, each of which has different resources and farming seeds. Only The Meadows will be revealed at first, but you'll be able to reveal other Regions by cleaning up the Noxious Sludge and Noxious Weeds.

How to Reach the Northwestern Area

Unfortunately, it seems that you cannot reach the northwestern area in the Early Access launch version of Lightyear Frontier.

How to Open the Vault Door

You can open the Vault Door by unlocking every core Region on the main island. You do not need to visit Tornado Rock Isle to open the vault.

How to Unlock New Regions

You can unlock new Regions in Lightyear Frontier by cleaning up all of the Noxious Slime and Noxious Weeds. You can remove Noxious Slime with the Irrigation Hose and you can remove Noxious Weeds with the Vacuum Harvester.

Some Regions can be cleared out with the default equipment on your Mech. However, other Regions have stronger Noxious Slime and Noxious Weeds; you'll need to upgrade your Vacuum Harvester and Irrigation Hose.

Mech Upgrades Needed to Unlock Each Region

Here are the upgrades you need to unlock each Region:

  • The Meadows: No cleanup necessary
  • Pine Heights: Default Irrigation Hose, Default Vacuum Harvester
  • Edge Cliffs: Default Irrigation Hose, Default Vacuum Harvester
  • Stepstone Peak: Irrigation Hose Power I, Default Vacuum Harvester
  • Yellow Forest: Default Irrigation Hose, Vacuum Harvester Power I
  • Mountainside Coast: Irrigation House Power II, Default Vacuum Harvester
  • Lowland Plains: Default Irrigation Hose, Vacuum Harvester Power II
  • Tornado Rock Isle: No cleanup necessary

The above map shows where we found Noxious Sludge and Noxious Weeds in every Region. As far as we can tell, the spawn locations appear to be static, but there may be slight variations in their locations.

Keep in mind that you'll only be able to restore Edge Cliffs and Pine Heights with your default equipment. Clearing out the other Regions will require certain Mech Upgrades for your Irrigation Hose and Vacuum Harvester.
