Today Nihon Falcom released another gallery of screenshots and more details of the upcoming JRPG Ys X: Nordics.
First of all, we get the introduction of several characters, including Momina Evelies, a lady who runs a stall in Karnak, Romes Carpent, a businessman who leads the Carpent Company, Joel Asrad, a doctor who runs a clinic in Karkak, Ashley, a boy who lives in the city by himself, and Ulval, a veteran shipwright belonging to the Balta Fleet.
We then get to take a look at the Rune Stones scattered across the game's world. When Adol and Karja touch them, they will tell the sagas of the past and will grant Manaseeds that can be used to unlock new abilities.
Another big feature is fishing, which is split between standard fishing and Tuna fishing. Standard fishing can be done anywhere you see ish silhouettes on the surface of the water, including in dungeons. Once you select the location and bait, you have to press the button repeatedly and maneuver the rod to catch your fish
When the gauge at the top of the screen fills up, the fish will be caught. Tuna fishing is done from the ship, in fishing spots that appear across the sea. You can also opt to do standard fishing from the bridge of the ship in the same spots.
There is also a support gauge that fills up by successfully completing the actions displayed on the screen. When it's full, you can use support effects to improve your results. Your catches will be recorded in your fishing log, and by reporting your results to Joel, you can get rewards.
Inviting specific characters to join your ship's crew increases its performance and unlocks special features. For instance, Momina and Romes will open their stores on the ship, Joel will provide rewards for fishing as mentioned above, while Ashley will unlock quests and help you study the creatures of the sea.

Ys X: Nordics will release in Japan and Asia on September 28, 2023, for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. An announcement for a Western release has not been made just yet. Usually, the localization of Nihon Falcom games is done by NIS America, and they're usually slightly faster with Ys games than with Trails games, mostly because they're not several titles behind. Hopefully, we'll hear more relatively soon.
