Today Nihon Falcom released new screenshots and details of its upcoming JRPG Ys X: Nordics.
First of all, we get to meet five new characters. Phylleia is one of the two commanders of the Balta fleet. She's the right hand of the boss and she keeps an eye on Karja, his daughter. Ezer is a young boy in service of Karja's family. He's polite and considerate, and always thinks of Karja before himself.
Yolds belongs to the Grieger race. She's a sadist who abuses the people of Ophelia Bay and holds a grudge against Karja for wounding her with the power of Mana. Larg is also a Grieger, but he's less violent than the rest and he's interested in human culture, so he often approaches Adol with strange questions. Ord is the third Grieger we meet today. He's an outstanding warrior and he's interested in Karja and Adol's Mana Power. He has high expectations for their potential, especially for Karja's growth as a warrior.
We also get to take a look at the "Release Line" progression mechanic. Basically, it's a set of two separate skill trees for Adol and Karja. As you level up, you can unlock slots in each tree with Mana Points and slot in Mana Seeds to activate Mana Abilities that can be used in battle.
There are four different types of Mana Abilities. Bravery focuses on attack, Resilience focuses on defense, Optimism focuses on other utility abilities, and Darkness focuses on abilities that are a tradeoff between advantages and disadvantages.
There are also "Dream" Mana Seeds that let you unlock multiple abilities by combining Bravery, Resilience, and Optimism in a single slot.

Ys X: Nordics will release in Japan and Asia on September 28, 2023, for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. As mentioned above, an announcement for a Western release has not been made just yet.
