Epic has released the new Fortnite Halloween update, and it's sure to give you Fortnitemares (their word, not mine).

Previous Fortnite crossovers have included FuturamaThe Witcher, and Spider-Man, among many others, but since it's the spooky season, it's time to get creepy for this update.

New outfits include a Jack Skellington costume with a Santa Jack alt style, so you can pay tribute to the best Tim Burton movie while you're fleeing for your life in Fortnite.

If you prefer your scary movies a little more, well, actually scary, The Shape, also known as Michael Myers, will also be available as an outfit later on in this update cycle.

Last but not least on the crossover front, haunted author Alan Wake makes an appearance in Fortnite, accompanied by several Waking Nightmare items that will appear in the Item Shop alongside his Outfit.

That's not all you're getting in this update, of course.

New spooky gear includes the Wood Stake Shotgun, Kado Thorne's Vampiric Blade, and the Pumpkin Launcher, which, as you've probably guessed, fires explosive jack-o-lanterns at your enemies.

The new Witch Broom item also lets you launch yourself into the air and glide back down. Cackling is optional, but thoroughly recommended.

You'll also find lots of spooky sweets to mark the season of trick-or-treating, including Candy Corn and Jelly Beans. These sweets give different bonuses, so be sure to pick 'em up wherever you find 'em.

If you want to see everything that's new, including changes to gameplay systems and the return of the Horde Rush LTE, make sure to take a look at the Fortnitemares patch notes.

Fortnite is available to play for free right now on PC, consoles, and mobile devices. The Halloween update is available now, and much of its content will be made available as the spooky season progresses.
