Epic has announced that the world of Star Wars will once again return to Fortnite in May, only this time, it's not just the battle royale game that's getting a look-in.
A post on the official Fortnite X (formerly Twitter) account points to a new Fortnite Star Wars crossover on May 3rd, just in time for Star Wars Day (which, in case you hadn't figured it out, is May 4th).
The brief teaser trailer for the new Star Wars Fortnite crossover doesn't give much away at all, simply teasing the arrival of the hugely popular space opera franchise in Fortnite and two of its ancillary experiences.
As well as the main battle royale game, Star Wars will also arrive in Lego Fortnite and Fortnite Festival, both of which were introduced in December last year.
It's not clear exactly what the Star Wars crossover will entail for those two games, but what does appear to be clear is that despite being pretty popular, Rocket Racing doesn't seem to be getting any kind of Star Wars content.
That seems like a shame to me; after all, the podracing sequence in Episode I is pretty much that movie's only saving grace, so adapting it for Rocket Racing seems like a no-brainer.
It could be that Star Wars content will make its way to Rocket Racing after the fact, but given that it's been left out of the lineup of games included in the teaser released today, that seems unlikely.
This is, of course, not Star Wars' first rodeo within the world of Fortnite. The two have crossed over on a number of occasions, bringing characters, weapons, and more to the battle royale game.
We'll have to wait and see what this Star Wars crossover will bring to Fortnite and its associated games in May. Stay tuned for more.
