Our Dinkum Cooking Guide will tell you how to unlock Cooking and also provide you with a list of all the Cooking recipes we've found!

This guide has been updated to include the changes made to food as part of the May 15, 2024 Breezy Autumn update.

How Dinkum Cooking Works

There are a few ways to cook in Dinkum:

  1. Cooking Fruit or Meat on a Camp Fire or BBQ
  2. Cooking at a Cooking Table
  3. Putting items in a Billy Can
  4. Putting items in a Keg

Additionally, the Grain Mill is used to make some other items needed for Cooking such as Flour and Sugar.

Food in Dinkum does not restore Health and Stamina directly. Instead, different foods can increase your regeneration of each — some even temporarily increase your maximum Health or Stamina.

For Stamina, food can increase your regeneration per second. For Health, it's based on 15 second "ticks". Ticks are represented by the circle next to your Health bar, with healing happening every time this fills (it only starts filling up when you take damage.)

You can eat up to three different food items at a time, with the Health and Stamina regen stacking. This includes eating the same Food multiple times.

For buffs, these come in three strengths. From lowest to highest: No stars, one star, and two stars.

Campfire / BBQ

Items cooked at the Camp Fire or BBQ only require a single ingredient. The BBQ cooks items much faster, and you can cook faster still by placing a BBQ directly next to a Windmill.
