Sword Art Online Last Recollection

Today Bandai Namco released an interesting new video of its upcoming JRPG Sword Art Online Last Recollection

Specifically, we get a comparison against the game's predecessor Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris on PS5 Pro and on PS5. Of course, the comparison isn't exactly apples to apples on the newer console, because Alicization Lycoris never had a PS5 version so it's running via backward compatibility.

The comparison starts with the visuals in general and gameplay speed, then moves on to loading times, which are nearly instant on PS5.

The last term of comparison is frame rate, with only the PS5 version of the new game running at 60 FPS, while everything else runs at 30. You can check it out below.

In case you missed the original announcement made back in November, the game is a retelling of the Sword Art Online Alicization: War of Underworld arc of the anime and is set in the Dark Territory of Underworld. It will also serve as a sequel to Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris.

Sword Art Online Last Recollection is coming for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on October 6, 2023. If you want to see more, you can take a look at the previous story trailer and another video. The game will feature over 40 playable characters and promises "MMO-like multiplayer" and "the largest number of unique endings" ever featured in the long-running Sword Art Online series.
