Today Bethesda released a small update for Starfield and provided more information on what we can expect going forward, and there's some pretty interesting stuff coming.
The update, numbered 1.7.29 and aimed at improving stability and fixing a few quest issues, is just the tip of the iceberg (but you can still read the patch notes below, from the official announcement).
PERFORMANCE AND STABILITY
- Xbox Series X|S Improved stability related to installations.
- Various stability and performance improvements to reduce crashes and improve framerate.
QUESTS
- All That Money Can Buy: Fixed an issue where player activity could result in a quest blocker.
- Into the Unknown: Fixed an issue that could prevent the quest from appearing after the game is completed.
- Shadows in Neon: Fixed an issue where player activity could result in a quest blocker.
Yet, this is far from all that Bethesda has up its sleeve. The developer plans to support the game for many years, and regular updates are coming soon, including the following.
- Brightness and Contrast controls
- HDR Calibration Menu
- FOV Slider
- Nvidia DLSS Support (PC)
- 32:9 Ultrawide Monitor Support (PC)
- Eat button for food!
On top of that, we learn that full-fledged mod support will come in early 2024. Like with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4, mods will be availa ble for both the PC nd Xbox Series X|S versions.
Starfield is available now for PC (via Steam and Windows Store), Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass. It achieved 1 million concurrent players on day one, and it already surpassed 6 million cumulative players.
If you want to read more about the game you can read our detailed review, in which our Erren Van Duine mentioned that "Starfield's biggest strength is its complimentary content - sidequests, exploration, and more will gather your attention for hours despite a less-than-compelling narrative."
Speaking of modding, if you'd like to download a few Must-have mods, you can check out one that will enable more complex mods to be released on top of another mod that will make your inventory management much less problematic.
