Bethesda just announced a new player milestone for its brand new space RPG Starfield, and it's a big one.

According to an announcement made on X (formerly Twitter), the game has passed 6 million players as of this morning.

As a result, Starfield is officially the biggest launch ever for a Bethesda game, which is certainly very flattering for a new IP.

Just yesterday, we learned that the game had exceeded 1 million concurrent players across all platforms, and today's figure certainly solidifies the impression that Starfield's release has been very successful.

Starfield is available now for Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Steam and Windows Store), and Game Pass. It's very likely that the availability on Microsoft's subscription service helped put the game in the hands of many potential fans.

If you want to read more about Bethesda's latest labor of love or if you are on the fence about whether you should join these 6 million players, you can read our detailed review, in which our Erren Van Duine explained that "Starfield's biggest strength is its complimentary content - sidequests, exploration, and more will gather your attention for hours despite a less-than-compelling narrative."

You can also listen to the latest episode of our podcast, in which our team discusses the game, and read about a must-have mod that will enable more complex mods to be released on top of another mod that will make your inventory management much less cumbersome
