Today Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse revealed the final closed beta for its upcoming sci-fi RPG Honkai: Star Rail.
The last closed beta testing phase will begin on February 10 for PC, iOS, and Android, and signups are already available on the official site. It will provide perspective players with a chance to experience new characters, areas, and features.
If you know Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail comes with similar visuals and a similar focus on characters, but it's actually a turn-based RPG, making it an entirely different experience from HoYoverse's ultra-popular online action RPG.
Here's how the developer describes the game's world.
"In this universe, there are the [Aeons], incarnations of universal principles that are able to freely travel between infinite worlds using some kind of primitive force. The galaxy is packed with varied worlds that have unique landscapes and stories; the [Aeons] roaming the universe uphold their own beliefs. The protagonist, who was implanted with a [Stellaron], embarks on a trip aboard the Astral Express with a group of passengers who claim to have inherited the spirit of [the Trailblaze]. Together they will pursue the trails of [Aeons] to explore the realms of the universe."
The press release also describes what we can expect specifically from the final closed beta, including the beginning of the story in Herta Space Station followed by the ability to explore Jarilo-VI and Xianzhou Luofu, two relevant locations with diverse cultures and scenery: Jarilo-VI is a polar planet while Xianzhou Luofu (which is showcased for the first time) is a massive dreadnought belonging to the Xianzhou Alliance, one of the most powerful factions in the universe of the game. It features an impressive cityscape themed after Eastern fantasy.
It'll certainly be interesting to see if Honkai: Star Rail will have what it takes to match the success of its big brother. Its characters will certainly play a primary role in that, and you can meet them in the new trailer below.
