Gran Turismo 7 is getting another update next week, and producer Kazunori Yamauchi has delivered his traditional tease. Yet, this update appears to be special.
Yamaichi-san has mentioned on X (formerly Twitter) today that this update will be a big one, showing seven silhouettes of a variety of cars. Usually, that is a tease of the new cars included in the update.
At the moment, he has not explained whether he simply means that the update will be big because it includes more cars than usual, or we can expect more features as well.
You can check out the image above. Of course, the community did not stay idle, and X user Fighterman_FFRC (who normally gets it right) recognized a Lexus LFA (2010), a Porsche 992 GT3 RS, a GT-R R33 NISMO 400R, a Mercedes Benz 190E EVO2, a Tesla Model 3, a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon (2018), and a Dodge Charger (1969).
While we have no official confirmation, they appear to be correct if we compare the silhouettes with images of the cars they mentioned.
We also don't have a specific release date, the updates usually come at the beginning of the week, and it's likely that Polyphony Digital will release it before the end of October.
Gran Turismo 7 is currently available for PS5 and PS4, including PlayStation VR2 support. The game has been out for a year and a half, but Polyphony Digital has been very consistent in keeping it updated with regular free injections of new cars. New features and tracks have been delivered much more sporadically.
Incidentally, we recently heard that Polyphony collaborated with Nissan in the creation of a real-world concept car, and we're still wondering if it'll make it into the game.
In the meanwhile, Gran Turismo Sport is going the way of the dodo, with online services shutting down early next year.
