Sony has announced that Gran Turismo Sport servers are to shut down in January next year, ending access to several of the game's online features.
In a post on the official Gran Turismo website, Sony reveals the date of the shutdown: January 31st next year.
Prior to that, on December 1st, you'll no longer be able to buy any Gran Turismo Sport DLC from the store, so make sure you've bought what you want before then.
Several online services will become unavailable when the Gran Turismo Sport servers shut down.
These include online play against other players, as well as seasonal events, custom liveries, and several of the game's trophies.
Not everything is going away with the shutdown of the Gran Turismo Sport servers, however.
You'll still be able to access your Garage cars, and your career progression will be left untouched as well.
In addition, all of Gran Turismo Sport's offline content will still be accessible, including world circuits, and you'll still be able to unlock content as you would have done normally.
However, you won't be able to buy any of the game's DLC, including the Lewis Hamilton Time Trial Challenge, any vehicles available for purchase, and the Scapes Content Pack.
If you buy any of this DLC prior to December 1st, you'll still be able to access it after the shutdown date, so if there is anything you've got your eye on, don't wait.
Servers for older games often get shut down when player numbers dwindle, especially when newer installments in the series are more popular.
In recent years, servers for games like Metal Gear Solid V and the Xbox 360 Halo lineup have been shut down, as well as Epic's Rock Band and Unreal games.
Gran Turismo Sport is only a few years old, though, so its servers shutting down might come as a surprise and a disappointment to many players, who may still be enjoying the game despite Gran Turismo 7 being released.
In any case, Gran Turismo Sport's online services close their doors on January 31st, so make sure you get some online play in before then if you're still enjoying the game.
