Update November 3rd 10:04AM: HoYoverse has announced the official Genshin Impact version 4.2 release date, as well as lots of new information about the upcoming patch.
You can read our rundown of version 4.2 right here. Original story follows below.
Original story: The official PlayStation X account appears to have leaked the Genshin Impact 4.2 release date.
Earlier today, Hoyoverse announced that the Genshin Impact 4.2 livestream has been delayed, and no new date or time was given.
However, some hours after that announcement, PlayStation posted a release date of November 8th for the update on X, as well as several screenshots.
Said screenshots show new characters Furina and Charlotte posing, as well as some characteristically beautiful Genshin Impact landscapes.
According to PlayStation, Genshin Impact version 4.2 also "puts a bow" on the Fontaine storyline.
It's not entirely clear what that means, but traditionally, putting a bow on something means to complete it or add the finishing touches, so it seems we can expect the Fontaine storyline to wrap up in the new update.
Again, it's worth bearing in mind that Hoyoverse hasn't officially announced the release date for Genshin Impact version 4.2 yet, nor whether it will indeed bring a conclusion to the Fontaine story.
The new Genshin Impact update will follow on from version 4.1, which was released in late September.
That version added two new characters in the form of Hydro wielder Neuvillette and Cryo character Wriothesley, as well as furthering the Fontaine storyline and bringing new bosses to fight.
Since Hoyoverse has yet to reschedule the Genshin Impact version 4.2 livestream, we don't know exactly what's coming as part of the new update yet.
However, if PlayStation is correct, we can expect new story quests to tie up the Fontaine narrative, as well as the arrival of Furina and Charlotte, potential new combat encounters, and more.
Genshin Impact is available to play for free right now on PC, PlayStation consoles, and mobile devices. A version of the game is also supposedly in development for Nintendo Switch, although we haven't heard much about that version for a while now.
