Far Cry 6 has been leaked via a listing on the Hong Kong PlayStation store. The listing, which has now been removed, confirms Giancarlo Esposito as the game's main villain and details some of its features. This news confirms leaks that came about last week.
What is the setup for Far Cry 6?
According to the listing, Far Cry 6 will take place in "a tropical paradise frozen in time" known as Yara. Giancarlo Esposito will play Anton Castillo, a dictator intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means. Players will take control of Dani Rojas, a local Yaran, and take up arms against Castillo with the objective of liberating it from his tyrannical grasp. The listing comes complete with leaked Far Cry 6 box art featuring Esposito as Castillo gripping his young son Diego's shoulders. He's looking as menacing as ever. You can check the box art out right here.
How will Far Cry 6 play?
Gameplay-wise, we're expecting Far Cry 6 to continue the open-world FPS legacy of its predecessors. Ubisoft says Yara will be "the largest Far Cry playground to date" and will feature jungles, beaches, and Esperanza, the capital city of Yara. You'll be crafting makeshift weapons and vehicles to make your way across the terrain, and Guns for Hire will be making a return, this time under the name Amigos. Far Cry 6 will also support a free PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 upgrade via Smart Delivery when it launches. Presumably, this will also be the case for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions of the game.
On July 12th, Ubisoft will be holding its Ubisoft Forward presentation, at which it will showcase a number of already-announced and upcoming projects. It looks like Far Cry 6 could be one of the "surprises" Ubisoft is promising as part of the show. We're also expecting to see Assassin's Creed Valhalla gameplay (for real this time) and more details about Watch Dogs Legion at the event.
