After months of waiting and a disappointing delay, the Far Cry 6 release date has finally been revealed alongside a livestream that dives deep into the game's content.
Far Cry 6 is, as you might expect, the next big game in the Far Cry franchise of first-person shooters that has a dash of RPG elements tossed in. (Then again, what shooter doesn't these days? Set in the fictional Caribbean island of Yara, you and a band of guerillas will engage in an intense mission to take down the vile dictator Anton Costillo, a menacing character played by Giancarlo Esposito, an actor who gained a fair amount of fame for his iconic portrayal of Gus Fring in Breaking Bad.

Far Cry 6 was delayed late last year alongside Rainbow Six Quarantine, the latter of which still does not yet have a firm release date announcement. No specific reason was given for the delay other than Ubisoft wanting to "leverage [its] full potential" in making this game, although it wouldn't be too crazy to assume that the work-from-home challenges created by last year's pandemic contributed to this situation in some small way.
A Far Cry 6 livestream kicked off on YouTube earlier today, although a good chunk of the video content was accidentally leaked earlier. After more than six months of waiting, we finally have confirmation of a Far Cry 6 release date!
When is the Far Cry 6 Release Date?
The Far Cry 6 release date is October 7, 2021, according to a tweet from the franchise's official account — you'll be able to get this game and play it with plenty of time to spare before Christmas.
That said, you're still going to have to wait fourth months and change before you're able to play the game. You can pre-purchase Far Cry 6 for PC and consoles via its official website starting at $59.99 or your regional equivalent. And if you're keen on collectibles, you can pick up the "Fangs For Hire" collection (which doesn't include the game, mind!) and score some neat themed goodies including an adorable 10-inch Chorizo Statue.
