Capping off the Inside Xbox May 7th presentation was the first "gameplay" reveal for Ubisoft's upcoming open-world game Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The gameplay Xbox showed off is more of a teaser than a fully-fledged reveal, so if you're expecting lengthy dissections of mechanics, you'll be disappointed.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla will place you in the shoes of Eivor, a Viking protagonist whose gender you can choose for yourself. Eivor must set out from their homeland in order to find a new settlement for their people. Along the way, they'll navigate the tense political situation in England, exploring the land and raiding forts in order to make a base for themselves. You can check out the "gameplay" trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla right here:

Gameplay-wise, you can expect an entirely new combat system in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The new system emphasizes dual-wielding in keeping with Eivor's status as a Viking berserker warrior. The faithful bird companion system from Origins and Odyssey is making a return, so it looks like that's how you'll be figuring out your surroundings. The gameplay trailer for Valhalla also showed off some fort raids, Viking longship formations sailing into battle, and some of the (admittedly rather beautiful) English countryside, as well as some of the historical characters you'll meet when you play the game.

Like many other Xbox Series X games, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will feature Smart Delivery, meaning you'll be able to grab it on Xbox One and play it on Xbox Series X at no additional cost. Valhalla will launch for Xbox Series X this holiday season. No word yet on a specific release date, but we'll bring you more on Valhalla as we get it.

Will you be sailing for England in Assassin's Creed Valhalla on Xbox Series X? Looking forward to some actual gameplay? Let us know in the comments below!
